Accessibility Statement
1. Scope — read this first
This statement covers the Cortessa marketing website at cortessa.co.uk (the “Site”), operated by Cortessa Ltd. It sets out our accessibility commitment, the standard we build to, known limitations, and how to report a problem or request content in an alternative format. It does not cover the Cortessa product interface, which is assessed separately.
This is a voluntary statement. The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 apply to public-sector bodies, and this Site is a private business’s marketing site, so those regulations do not apply here. We publish this statement as good practice, and because under the Equality Act 2010 a service provider must not discriminate against disabled people and must make reasonable adjustments — a duty we take seriously in how the Site is designed.
2. Our commitment
We want the Site to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technologies (screen readers, magnification, speech input) or who navigate by keyboard. We treat digital accessibility as a design requirement, not an afterthought.
3. Standard we build to
We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA — the current W3C Recommendation and the recognised benchmark for accessible web content. In practice, the Site is designed and self-tested for:
- semantic page landmarks and a single, clear heading structure (one h1 per page);
- a skip-to-content link and full keyboard operability, with a visible focus indicator and logical focus order;
- colour contrast checked against WCAG 2.2 AA using the Site’s design tokens;
- text alternatives for images and meaningful non-text content;
- responsive layout that reflows without loss of content or function;
- respect for reduced-motion preferences, and no flashing content.
4. Conformance status and known limitations
We have self-tested the Site against WCAG 2.2 AA as described above, but no formal independent accessibility audit has been carried out. We therefore do not claim full, verified conformance. If an issue has slipped through, we want to know about it — please tell us using the contact below and we will aim to fix it.
5. Reporting a problem / requesting an alternative format
If you find an accessibility barrier on the Site, or need information from it in an alternative format (for example plain text or large print), please contact us:
- Email: info@cortessa.co.uk
- Response: we aim to reply within 5 working days.
It helps if you tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using, so we can reproduce and fix the problem.
6. Escalation
If you contact us with an accessibility complaint and are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to raise the matter under the Equality Act 2010. In Scotland, England and Wales, the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) provides advice and support on discrimination: equalityadvisoryservice.com.
7. How we maintain this statement
We will review this statement when the Site changes materially, and at least annually. The version and date at the top show the current version.
