Sovereign document intelligence

Every answer cited to its source — or it refuses.

Cortessa answers from your approved document set with every claim traced to a cited source span. It runs offline on a sovereign workstation on your desk. Blind-tested on real, public documents: 0 fabrications passed the gate.

01 / Evidence Measured blind · real public corpora

The evidence, with its test context

  • ~97% retrieval hit-rate across a 480-question blind evaluation over a 700-document, 29,506-chunk public corpus. Raw artifacts hash-manifested.
  • 76.9% strict factual accuracy in the shipped configuration on the same sealed evaluation; 91% on single-fact questions and 92% on entity disambiguation.
  • 16 / 16 model fabrication attempts held back by the provenance gate in that run; none reached a user as Verified.
  • 156 real, public NASA documents in the live demonstration corpus — every citation opens a document you can download and check yourself.

Internally executed blind protocol on real, public corpora: the engine never saw the sealed key; a separate source-only oracle authored it and a different model family judged the answers. Independent external replication is a pilot objective. Figures are from interim development hardware.

02 / The gate Deterministic · versioned acceptance policy

The guarantee is enforced in code, not hoped for

Every output is provenance-gated. The gate applies a deterministic, versioned containment policy before a claim can be shown as Verified; the cited source remains open for inspection. Cortessa never certifies — the engineer signs off.

Verified

Shown only when a claim is provably a near-verbatim span of a cited source.

Draft

Unprovable claims are shown as Draft — never passed off as fact.

Refused

When the fact is not present, the system refuses rather than guess.

03 / The console Live capture · public NASA corpus

This is what the gate looks like

A live question against the 156-document public NASA demonstration corpus, answered by the on-box model with nothing leaving the machine. The provenance gate holds all three paraphrased claims at Draft — 0 verified — while exposing the cited source and every consulted passage for inspection.

The Cortessa Ask console answering how overwrapped composite pressure vessels are manufactured. The offline local-model ribbon is visible. The gate holds three paraphrased claims at Draft with zero Verified, and the cited-source panel shows twelve passages consulted and one cited.
Ask, on the on-device model — nothing leaves the box. Three paraphrased claims are cited to the source patent and held at Draft, not promoted to Verified. The panel exposes all twelve consulted passages and the one cited source so the engineer can inspect the evidence. The visible classification ribbon is demonstration UI state, not a claim of accreditation.
04 / Effectivity S1000D · configuration-aware

The right revision for the right variant

Supersession is a claim about time — Rev E replaced Rev D. Effectivity is a claim about configuration — Rev D still applies to hulls 1–4, Rev E from hull 5, both current at once. Serving the wrong one to the wrong variant is a safety event, and a search engine cannot tell the difference.

  • Configuration-aware answers. For S1000D technical publications, an answer is bound to the product configuration it applies to — modules for a different variant are withheld and reported, not silently blended in.
  • Undecidable is flagged, never guessed. Where applicability cannot be decided from the data, the answer says so — the same refusal ethos as the provenance gate.
  • Benchmarked. Unfiltered retrieval answered 4 of 8 questions and leaked the wrong variant four times. With the effectivity filter active: 8 of 8 answered and 0 wrong-variant leaks, on a disclosed, purpose-authored S1000D corpus.
05 / Capabilities One guarantee across all three

Three capabilities, one guarantee

Audit Shipped

Lead capability

Cross-references your whole corpus and surfaces where documents disagree — numeric conflicts, supersession, broken references, stale content — as a cited findings list for an engineer to adjudicate.

Recall 1.0 and precision 1.0 on the seeded regression set, across four seeded error classes. Separately, a blind run over a real NASA programme document family returned 15 / 15 genuine findings.

Cited answers

Natural-language questions answered from your corpus, every sentence cited. It refuses when the fact is not present.

~97% retrieval and 76.9% strict factual accuracy across the 480-question blind evaluation; all 16 model fabrication attempts in that run were held back. In a separate exam, 12 / 12 out-of-corpus questions were refused with 0 fabrications.

06 / Deployment Disconnected · single executable

Defence is the proving ground

Sovereignty, provenance, air-gap operation: a product that clears that bar clears it for everyone else. Cortessa runs disconnected, on a dedicated sovereign workstation on the analyst's desk — a single executable; no server, no cloud, no internet dependency. Nothing leaves the machine to answer a question.

The same guarantee travels to civil aerospace, nuclear, energy, rail, pharma, legal and government estates. One product, one guarantee, many document estates.

Explore sectors & use cases

  • On-device (standard) the model and the whole ingestion pipeline are resident on the box and run full time; nothing leaves the machine.
  • Retrieval only the floor beneath it — ranked source passages with their citations, no model in the loop. Always available; never a failure.
  • In-region cloud — off by default a future option for a site whose policy later permits one. It ships switched off, and can be locked out entirely so it cannot be selected at all. Opt-in and logged if it is ever enabled (UK, London entry region).
07 / The appliance In development · concept visualisations

The same guarantee, as a sealed unit

Concept — not currently shipping

The sovereign workstation, taken to its conclusion: Cortessa is being brought to a sealed, self-contained appliance — the whole system in a single unit, running offline inside your boundary. No cloud, no server, nothing leaving the machine.

08 / This site Self-contained · no external calls

This website works the way the product does

No third-party CDNs, no external web fonts, no analytics or trackers that phone home, no external calls at runtime. Every asset is self-hosted. It loads inside an accreditation boundary, disconnected — the same constraint Cortessa is built to.
